Seasons Program

'Seasons' is a program designed to assist children in coping with grief experienced through death, divorce or separation. When something significant happens in a family, the entire family is affected. Even though death or divorce appears to be only a ‘grown up’ problem, it does have a profound effect on the children that it touches.

Seasons is an initiative of CatholicCare Family Services and has been offered in schools across the state for a number of years.  Research has shown that children who are grieving need help to acknowledge their loss, talk about their feelings and learn how to manage the changes in their lives.

The program consists of a series of sessions led by our trained staff at St Leo’s.  The children meet in small groups at an arranged time for about thirty minutes.  At each session the children have an opportunity to share their stories, be listened to, ask questions and feel supported in a trusting environment.
